Dr. John Battershill
Dr. Battershill began his career at Webber State on a scholarship then pursued a career in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Calgary Stampeders.
He was traded to the Toronto Argonauts in the early 80’s and retired soon after to become a chiropractor.
Dr. John’s experience with personal injury and seeing his friends sustain career-altering injuries was a key motivator for him to become a chiropractor and help athletes.
Dr. Keith Belliveau
Dr. Belliveau began his post-secondary at University of Calgary where he received his Bachelor of Kinesiology.
He then went to Life Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay area where he played on a full scholarship for the Life West Gladiators rugby team (USA Rugby Div. II National Champions).
Dr. Keith’s passion for sports and living an active, healthy lifestyle played a huge role in his decision to pursue a career as a chiropractor.

10 Ways We Treat Sport Injuries
Initially, our chiropractors will begin treatment by identifying the cause of your symptoms and do a thorough assessment to determine if there were any underlying pre-dispositions that made you more vulnerable to the injury in the first place.
The body of an athlete is constantly experiencing stresses whether it be from:
- physical contact in hockey
- repetitive swings on the golf course
- running back and forth across the field of play
… as a few examples. Often, small subluxations develop that are pre-cursor to more severe injury. Once the underlying causes have been identified (if any), addressing inflammation and pain while aiming to restore soft tissue function and bone alignment begins.

Damaged soft tissues, i.e. muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves, have a different texture and tension when in motion and can be identified by our chiropractors through feeling them.
Restoring soft tissue function using active release is accomplished by holding the soft tissue with tension in a shortened position while moving its structure through a full range of motion.

#3 – Cox® Technique Decompression

#7 – Eyelights
The use of eyelights is another concussion therapy technique used at our sports injury clinic in Calgary. A specially designed pair of sunglasses has four lights surrounding each lens that flash intermittently when worn which acts to stimulate the brain and restore function.
These eyelights come in pairs and will be recommended (or not) based on an initial assessment performed by one of our chiropractors. They come in four different colors which are used based on the part of your brain that is damaged.

#8 – Physiotherapy Exercises
Damaged soft tissues won’t heal if they aren’t used, which is why do-it-at-home exercises are useful in elongating tightened tissues and restoring function.
Our chiropractors prescribe exercises if they deem it would be beneficial to your recovery and speed up the process. Exercises are an essential part of recovery from almost all cases of sport injury.
#9 – Nutrition & Supplementation
