What is Cox® Technique?
Cox® Technique is a gentle, safe, non-force procedure that works with the natural design of the body to aid in proper healing of the spine through the central nervous system.
It is used as a method for spinal pain management and encourages a pain-free future by educating the patient about ergonomics, strengthening exercises and lifestyle modification.
When used in conjunction with other chiropractic techniques, this special form of care can help with all sorts of health conditions, some of which are mentioned below.
How Does It Work?
During treatment on a Cox® Technique decompression table, you (the patient) will lay flat down on your stomach while the chiropractor isolates one vertebral segment at a time, or begins treating those that are known to be injured.
The goal is to reduce stenotic effects (an abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel or other tubular organ or structure) by dropping intradiscal pressure (within the disc) to allow disc reduction, increasing the size of the low intervertebral foramen, and lowering pressure on the dorsal root ganglion and the exiting nerve roots.
While concentrating on the lower back, the doctor may use the instrument’s moving section to allow lateral and circular motion which returns normal movement to the spine and also reduces pain in the process.
